*4x400 *Alvin Harrison, *Antonio Pettigrew, *Calvin Harrison, Michael Johnson, USA (2:56.35): On 2.Aug.2008 the International Olympic Committee formally stripped the US team of their gold medals following the admission of Antonio Pettigrew that he had been using performance-enhancing drugs while competing in Sydney. Three of the four runners in the event final, including Pettigrew and twins Alvin and Calvin Harrison, and preliminary round runner Jerome Young, all have admitted or tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. The IOC put off any decision until it took into account all the files from the BALCO investigation in the United States; so it was not until July 2012 that the medals were reallocated.
